My goal is to break down modern techniques into easy-to-learn units so that all quilters are comfortable with the material, and able to try new modern quilt techniques. I offer two different improv-based projects or any Sew Kind of Wonderful pattern (using the Quick Curve Ruler). I have found ways to make Modern Quilting more accessible to traditional quilters, by exploring a variation of a log cabin like my ¾ log cabin in vibrant bold colors I shared.  By breaking a technique into doable pieces many quilters are able to try new modern techniques.

Improv Under

the Influence

Quick Curve Ruler

Using two color families of 5” squares, we will improv piece “piano key like” rows. This project is quick and we even can chain piece parts of the project.

Examples:

  • Chic Country
  • Urban Winter
  • Metro Rings -
    a contemporary double wedding ring
  • Mod Owls

Quilters will learn how to sew curves easily, without pinning, and making oversize blocks that we square up, so perfection is not needed.

Project finishes approximately 51” x 51” but can be adapted to any size

Project is 24-30” x 24-30” but can easily be expanded to almost

any size.
